What is the difference between regular dentures and implant overdentures?

Regular full dentures rest on the gums. An implant overdenture attaches to implants for extra retention and is still removable for cleaning. Implant treatment involves surgery and healing; the best choice depends on your mouth, health, and goals.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

The area is numbed for implant placement, so you should not feel sharp pain during the procedure. Soreness and swelling can follow as it heals. Your dentist will explain pain control and aftercare; contact the office if pain is severe or getting worse.

What is the difference between a crown and a filling?

A filling repairs a damaged part of a tooth. A crown fits over a prepared tooth, covering it to help protect and restore it. A larger break or weakened tooth may need more support than a filling can provide. Your dentist checks how much healthy tooth remains.

Can veneers stain?

Porcelain veneers resist stains better than composite veneers, but neither is stain-proof. Coffee, tea, and tobacco can affect their appearance. Regular cleaning and care still matter.

Will my fillings whiten when I whiten my teeth?

No. Whitening lightens natural teeth, not fillings, crowns, or veneers. Existing dental work may look darker next to newly whitened teeth. Discuss the shade you want with your dentist before starting.

Why are my teeth sensitive to cold?

Sensitivity can come from exposed roots, worn enamel, decay, or a crack. A soft brush and sensitivity toothpaste may help, but the cause matters. Have new, persistent, or worsening sensitivity checked by a dentist.

Why do my gums bleed when I brush or floss?

Bleeding can be a sign of gum inflammation, though brushing too hard and some medications can also contribute. Clean gently and arrange a dental visit if bleeding is recurring. Bleeding that does not stop promptly needs medical attention.

Can whitening make my teeth more sensitive?

Yes. Whitening can temporarily make teeth more sensitive, especially to cold. Pause if your teeth become uncomfortable, follow the directions, and ask your dentist before restarting. Severe or persistent pain should be checked.

Can I still get a cavity with veneers?

Yes. The natural tooth around or beneath a veneer can still develop decay. Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, clean between teeth every day, and keep up with dental visits.

Do veneers last forever?

No. Veneers can chip, wear, loosen, or need replacement over time. Avoid chewing hard objects, keep them clean, and tell your dentist if your bite feels different or you grind your teeth.

My goal is to become the best dentist I can be, using the skills I’ve been given to bring comfort and care to people who are hurting.

I want every patient to feel heard, understood, and cared for as a person. I pursue the best possible outcome for each individual, with treatment decisions grounded in biology, science, and evidence.

That means explaining your options, treating you thoughtfully, and guiding you to another clinician when they are better placed to provide the care you need.

Colossians 3:23–24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
